Mr. Schick's Birthday party!
I can't even believe that today somebody brought in a cake to class! Well, technically he brought in two cakes to represent a population pyramid, but anyways that cake was yummy. Also, we had cookies to eat and it was overall the highlight of my day as usual. After school on friday, i had my first track meet! Maddy Sterling and Ellie Hollin also went to the track meet! They did soooo good and it was super fun cheering everyone on! John Carroll girls track team got 2nd place in the whole entire meet! I ran a 4 by 800 and my relay and i got 2nd and a 4 by 400 and we got second in that too! Anyways, right now im studying for our exam in this class, hope i do well!:)

Sub Day
Mr. Schick wasn't in class today, so we basically had a free mod. I used this time well too study, plan when im going to study over the next week, and to plan my week. How im going to study for my exams is a pretty simple routine that i use for all my tests. I read over all my notes, make separate quizlets for each chapter or unit, and make flash cards. Then i read notes/ flash cards out loud all around my house while im walking. I will then distract myself for like 10 minutes and quiz my self without reviewing any notes before hand. I complete this process many times. I started this process for my religion exam last night, I'm going to finish my flash cards for that tonight. Also, tonight i will finish my flash cards for this human geo class since it is the second exam i take. I hope I do not procrastinate studying today and the rest of the days i have and that i do my very best to be prepared.

Exam Discussion
In class, Mr. Schick went over the procedures for the exam week. He informed us that we should probably pack a lunch because in our 30 minutes between each exam, everyone is going to be in the cafeteria in line to buy food. Also, we have our Social Studies exam next Wednesday at 10 am in our class room and we will be with our class now. Most teachers will let us study after we are done taking the exams however we may not go on phones or computers. So, i should come to the exams prepared with my study notes and flash cards for the test i take later. Mr. Schick said for his exams that our tests that we have taken each unit are basically our study guides and what we will need to know. We will be getting our exam review this Friday. For the Social Studies exam, the test will be out of 100 points and it is going to be 20% of our overall semester grade. There are 100 multiple choice questions and 2 essays. The multiple choice questions are half of a point each and each essay is 25 points. Mr. Schick told us of one of the essay prompts so far, and he will tell us the other one later when he comes up with the question. The first essay is going to be about the 5 steps of Demographic Transition and about Population Pyramids. So, I should probably know the importance of rate of natural increase, net migration rate, push and pull forces, life expectancy, total fertility rate, infant mortality rate, birth rate, and death rate.

Demographic Transition Review
We took a pop-quiz today on the past few classes, i missed the last 2 classes. However, i think i did pretty well on the quiz. After, the quiz, we took some more notes on Mr. Schick's blog:
- Demographic Transition refers to the transition from high birth and death rates to low birth and death rates.
- developed countries have gone through demographic transitions and has low birth rates
- some countries are kind of stuck in the past because the country's government doesn't want to change
- some countries even discourage women to read/ become literate
- core countries are the industrialized capitalist countries on which developing depend on
- core countries are usually wealthy and in a favorable location and they have a wide variety of resources, and a powerful military
