  • net migration rate: the difference between the number of people entering and leaving a country during a year. found by entering-leaving
  • life  expectancy: the average number of years to be lived by a group of people born in the same year
  • population growth mostly takes place in developing nations 
  • developing nations are poor and not totally set up in  infrastructure
  • rate of natural increase is produced by subtracting the death rate from the birth rate aka. birth-death
  • for a population to remain the same, the TFR( total fertility rate) must be 2.1
  • there are three basic shapes to population pyramids
  • christmas tree is for developing countries, they have a high birth rate and low life expectancy
  • box shape is for developed population with slow pop. growth, meaning it has low infant mortality and long life expectancy
  • cup shape is for developed nation with shrinking pop., has a low birth rate
