Kiva Discussion (EC)
Kiva is a place where you can loan money to people in need around the world. This website has a 97% repayment rate. This is mostly because the people who you can loan money to have to interviewed, they cant just be on the site. I think this website is a great idea because loaning as little as 25 dollars to someone who could really use the money makes you feel like a better person. There are a wide variety of people and things they need to raise money for all around the world. Kiva has people from 84 different countries signed up to gain loans. Some people need piglets to help keep their family farm growing, some need materials to build a fence to protect a crop, but there are some people who need money to start a business. When the people apply to get a loan, they have a set amount of money they are trying to raise for a certain purpose and a time of which they can be on the site to get loans. Once they receive their money, they have "pay days" when they have to repay a certain amount of money to Kiva. On these "pay days", the people who loaned money will receive an email saying how much was paid back to them, and in the end, you usually get all your money back. Then you can loan to someone else in need. I really like this set up and i think it is a great way to try and improve the world. Hopefully i can loan to people in need and get to hear the success stories like many others do!
